A mid-century pair of octagonal drum cabinets — siblings, not twins. Carrara, cooler and greener beneath her layers, and Calacatta, lighter, with more delicate wood showing through where the paint has worn thinnest — each topped with a genuine marble slab marked "Made in Italy" on the underside.
The case finish is layers of hand-distressed paint, sanded smooth and hand-buffed with antiquing wax to a soft, non-textured finish — the wear reads in color and depth rather than roughness underfoot.
Each cabinet opens to reveal interior storage, fitted with substantial ring pulls in aged brass. The carved panel doors and molded base give them a formality that softens once you notice the wear — and feels coastal to me.
